Visa regime
Since April 16, 2011, a visa-free regime for visiting Turkey has been in effect for Russian citizens. You no longer need to purchase a visa stamp upon arrival in Turkey. Check a2zdirectory for history of Turkey.
The period of stay in the country without a visa at a time is no more than 30 days and no more than 90 days in total within six months. That is, if a Russian plans to stay in Turkey for more than 30 days, he must leave the country (for example, on an excursion to another country) and re-enter. Within six months from the moment of the first entry into Turkey, the country can be visited as many times as desired, until the total stay is 90 days.
Passport must still be valid for at least 3 months after leaving Turkey.
Citizens of Russia who wish to travel to Turkey for a period of more than 30 days (not for tourism purposes) must apply for a visa in foreign missions of Turkey that corresponds to the purpose of their stay in the country.
Customs regulations
Customs restrictions apply to the export of Turkish currency. The maximum amount to be taken out of the country must not exceed the equivalent of 1,000 US dollars. See Turkey import restrictions.
The import of foreign currency into the country is not subject to restrictions.
Allowed to export duty-free:
cigarettes (up to 400 pieces) or cigars (up to 50 pieces) or tobacco (up to 200 grams);
coffee (weighing up to 1 kilogram);
spirits – no more than 3 uncorked bottles;
wine – no more than 2 uncorked bottles;
gifts and souvenirs in the amount not exceeding the equivalent of 200 US dollars ;
perfumery and cosmetic products – within the limits of personal needs.
Permitted to be imported into the country:
things and items used in household use – 1 piece of each item (with their obligatory export from the country at the end of the trip);
no more than two cameras, no more than one radio receiver, no more than one movie camera, etc.;
personal sports equipment;
necessary medical preparations;
bicycle, stroller, children’s toys;
one portable compact CD player; binoculars (one pair);
harmonica, mandolin, guitar, accordion (one of each type, but a maximum of three musical instruments);
All jewelry and valuables must be included in the customs declaration.
It is forbidden to import to Turkey:
- drugs;
- drugs containing a significant amount of narcotic substances;
- weapons and sharp instruments (without special permission).
