Visa application
A tourist who has chosen Indonesia as their place of rest needs a visa. But it is not necessary to arrange it in advance.
A visa to Indonesia can be obtained directly upon arrival in the country by contacting the appropriate service of the international airport, seaport or border checkpoint. Check a2zdirectory for history of Indonesia.
The visa is single-entry, short-term and is granted for a period of thirty days. It cannot be extended.
Important: Since January 2010, a visa for a period of less than a week is not issued.
You can also apply for a visa at the Consular Section of the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow, but then the visa will be more expensive.
When applying for a visa, you will need to provide the following documents:
- Passport valid for at least 6 months from the end of the trip. The passport must also have at least one blank page so that the visa sticker can be placed on it;
- A migration card filled in by the tourist’s hand;
- A receipt certifying that the client has paid the visa fee;
- Return tickets or tickets for the next flight (if not, the tourist must have at least $1000 in cash or on a credit card);
- Confirmation of the hotel reservation, or a document certifying that the tourist’s funds allow him to stay in the country;
- Several color photos in 3×4 format;
- Children, if they are under 9 years old and are included in the parents’ passport, receive a visa for free, but you need to provide 2 color photographs 3×4. But if the child is older than 9 years old, the visa for him is paid in full in any case;
The visa fee today is $25. You can pay in US dollars or Indonesian rupees by contacting a special window before submitting the necessary documents.
The tourist is issued a receipt for payment of the visa fee, which is immediately attached to other documents. Upon completion of these operations, a visa sticker is pasted into the passport and a stamp is placed on arrival in Indonesia.
Important: If you are transiting to Indonesia from any third countries, then marks must be placed in your passport certifying entry and exit from these countries, or their visas. Otherwise, entry may be denied.
For children, the visa fee is paid in full, regardless of whether they are included in the parent’s passport or not.
Customs regulations
In Indonesia, there are a number of customs rules and regulations for the import and export of certain things. See Indonesia import restrictions.
Allowed to import duty-free (persons over 18):
- Alcoholic drinks in a volume of not more than 2 liters;
- Tobacco products: cigarettes (up to 200 pieces), or cigars (no more than 50 pieces), or tobacco in an amount not exceeding 100 grams;
- Perfume or toilet water in the amount needed for personal use;
- Gifts and souvenirs worth no more than $250 per person or $1,000 per family.
The import of foreign currency into the country is not limited in any way, but amounts exceeding $11,000 must be declared. As for the import of the national currency, it is all subject to mandatory declaration and should not exceed the amount of 50 thousand rupees.
It is necessary to declare video cameras, portable radios, audio players, tape recorders, binoculars and sports equipment, otherwise it will be difficult to take them out of the country later. So, cameras are allowed to be imported only with the condition of their further export back (they are even entered in the passport).
Some restrictions are imposed on the import of fruits, vegetables, meat and fish. Pets can only be imported with an international veterinary certificate and with all necessary vaccinations.
Allowed to export duty-free:
The export of foreign and national currency from Indonesia is subject to the same rules as the import.
It is forbidden to import and export from Indonesia:
- drugs;
- Weapons and explosives, military ammunition;
- pornographic materials;
- Printed editions in Chinese;
- Chinese medicines;
- Rare birds and animals;
- Items of historical and cultural value, but do not have a special export permit.
